Who are we?

For over 100 years there has been a pharmacy in Bear Street in Barnstaple, North Devon

The name of Bear Street derives from the fact that Bear bating took place here, and Bear Street lies just outside of the ancient walled Saxon settlement on the river Taw known as Barum. The street leads directly, after only a few miles, onto the wild and wonderful Exmoor National Park .

For the last 20 years the business has been owned by pharmacist Philip Heming.   

Philip has stayed resoundingly  independent of companies influence, and developed his business in line with the requirements of his customers. The internet is a natural development as he can then offer a wider customer base the products that he recommends As this is a small part of what is really a local independent retail outlet, we do not have to make the level of profit of those set up to offer only internet business.
